Trash about trash

Have said it before and will say it again: trashcans might not be everywhere, but they are there for a reason! I know that this is Asia and keeping your rubbish with you while being in search for a trash can might sometimes be hard. And disgusting. But you know what else is? Dying animals in the sea, choking on your plastic 😊 Or not being able to walk barefoot, due to too much plastic pieces on the ground, cutting your skin – because that shit can be f*cking sharp sometimes! (And if you®re now thinking something like “haha just put on shoes and stop complaining” – that®s the wrong way my friend!) I saw so many fish at the beaches that were strangled to death because of some stupid cords that strangled them to death. Is that really necessary? Is it really worth the “comfort” of not looking for the next trash can and just throw everything away in the streets? Even though I®ve had a hard time finding bins, I never just threw everything away, so you might not do that as well! And, I got a serious question: do you really ALWAYS need a plastic bag while grocery shopping? I saw people buying one pack of cookies and asking for an extra bag, even though they had their backpacks or whatever with them
 IDIOTS!

Almost every traveler I met is a (heavy) smoker and unfortunately, most of them just throw their cigs in the streets. That®s bad for two reasons. The obvious one: animals might eat it, and then die from it. But it®s also a problem, that the rain (which eventually is going to come, even when you®re traveling in dry season) is going to wash the nicotine out of the cigarette, that way reaching the rivers, lakes and eventually the groundwater. Unfortunately, nicotine is strongly water soluble, and it®s proven that every cigarette pollutes around 40 liters of ground water. We really don®t want that, do we?! It®s SO easy to just keep the smoked cigs in its packaging or your bag and get rid of it properly later – if I can do that for 7 months, so do you! Back to the dying animals, I recently found a nice trick on how to kill less animals with plastic. You know these small rings on the shutter of bottles? Aight. It®s a great way for small animals to get stuck, since they might get caught in the ring with their heads, and then having struggle to breathe. Avoiding that is so easy! Simply make a cut trough the shutter before getting rid of it, and all the birds or fish will be able to get rid of it easily 😊

I know that not everyone might enjoy trash collecting at the beaches as much as I do, since most people are great when it comes to complaining about dirt, but barely anyone gets their ass up and does something. But the next time you®re somewhere, thinking anything like “Oh ew, that®s a lot of rubbish here. Really don®t enjoy that.” GET UP, GET A BAG, PUT SOME OF THE TRASH IN THERE! Thank you. It®s not a hard thing to do and no one expects you to collect for hours. But every little bit might help a lot, might even safe an innocent’s life. And you can use your hands, can®t you? Plus, the feeling after having done something good is just indescribably good 😊
