Koh ROng Sanloem
Damn man, getting to that island after the dirt in Otres/Sihanoukville was like arriving in heaven.
The first thing you see when arriving there is a beautiful, calm beach with small waves and the clearest water ever. 95% of the people there were foreigners, but it still didn´t feel touristy at all! (At least not in M´Pay Bay Village where I stayed lol).
If you´re into party and not getting sleep at night, one of the hostels located directly at the beach might be option number one for you. But as a person who loves sleep more than everything, I decided to get as far away from the nightlife as possible, so I ended up in the "Sleeping Buffalo". Can´t even express how much I´d love to go there again. Friendliest staff so far and fuck, I really needed smiling people around me!
Food is a bit more expensive than on the main land but the beer´s cheap so who cares :D
The highlight definitively was the plancton swimming at night. People are paying up to 10$ for a guided boat trip to see that nature spectacle but that´s seriously so unnecessary! All you gotta do is go to the beach, take off your clothes, step in the water and SHAKE! Magically thousands of lights start rising up next to you, it´s like swimming in stars. No words can describe that feeling, I was standing there like a little child just randomly shaking my arms and legs to get the plancton enlightened.
In total, the island was the perfect combination of quiet beaches and fun nightlife, so there´s something for everyone. You could even to hiking to another beach (45minutes trough the dschungle) or to one of the waterfalls (if it´s monsun season and they´re carrying water ahah).
