Unawatuna
Unawatuna is a nice touristic village, with a busy but beautiful main beach and many small, "hidden" beaches around (but isn´t it everywhere in Lanka like that?), e.g. the Jungle Beach or Dawella Beach.
The only problem with the many bars that can be found at the beach or the main street of Unawatuna is, that most of them are closing at 10 or earlier - we only found ONE where we could stay longer, and it felt like the owner only kept it opened for us. Which was nice of him, but still didn´t give us the best feeling.
Since it was quite late, we decided to take a Tuk Tuk back to the hostel, since two girls walking for 2km at 2am isn´t the safest thing to imagine. But, believe it or not, there was no Tuk Tuk around! In Asia! Sounds wild and unrealistic, but was unfortunately true.
Luckily there were no weird people around - the city was asleep.
But as dead the city is by night, the more awaken it is by day. There´s tourists everywhere, and the street to the beach is covered by locals offering massages and souvenirs. Slendering trough the city is really nice for one or two days, but I wouldn´t stay there for longer, at least not at the main beach.
