Phnom Penh - Hostels

Let´s talk about the not so nice things– the hostels. There´s plenty of cheap places from up to 3$ per night which sounds amazing at first, bc all the cheap places in Sri Lanka were really nice, even the cheapest of the cheap. Not in Phnom Penh tho! Dorm in the 4th floor, no elevator, one AC for 16 people, and no AC between 10am and 17pm. No outside food. Super unfriendly staff. No outside sitting after 12am. At least there was a pool game… I was looking for other, better places after the hottest night of my life (unfortunately not in a good way lol), but didn´t manage finding anything affordable. Yeah, I know, you can´t go low budget backpacking and then expect to sleep in heaven. But still. Can I please get a fan?! It´s over 35°C outside and y´all can imagine how hot it gets with 10+ people in one room. The food problem was even worse. I knew the “no outside food” sign from before, because they put it in almost every hostel that´s including a bar/restaurant. The thing is, that it usually doesn´t hold true for the hostel guests, only for those who are just coming to eat at the restaurant. BUUUT not in the “19 happy backpacker hostel”! We were told to put our cookies away. Literally. That´s not even food. That´s a snack! You´re not allowed to eat your food downstairs in the restaurant and game area, bc idiots. You´re not allowed to eat in the dorm, bc ants. Would be the perfect place for someone trying to lose weight but fml I LOVE FOOD and I WANT TO EAT!?
